JLPT N5 grammar practice
Try two N5-level Japanese grammar questions right now — no account, no signup, no timer. Each question gives you four options; pick one and you immediately see whether it was right, which option was correct, and why.
N5 grammar is the layer everything later sits on. These questions come from the same authored catalogue Hibi Mondai uses for daily practice, so what you see here is the real thing rather than a demo.
Try two N5 grammar questions
Two questions, four options each. You see the correct answer and an explanation as soon as you choose. Nothing is saved.
What this practices
Each question shows a Japanese sentence with one piece missing, and asks you to choose the grammar pattern that belongs there. It is recognition practice: can you tell, in context, which pattern a sentence is reaching for?
At N5 the patterns are the everyday scaffolding of Japanese — the polite forms you meet in your first weeks, basic negation and past tense, and the handful of connectors that turn two ideas into one sentence.
- です / ます polite forms
- 〜ません and 〜ませんでした
- 〜たい for wanting to do something
- 〜てください for requests
- 〜がある / 〜がいる for existence
What N5 grammar asks of you
N5 checks whether you can follow basic Japanese in familiar, everyday situations. The grammar section rewards recognition over analysis: you need to see a sentence and feel which pattern fits, without reasoning it out from a table.
That feel comes from volume and repetition rather than from study time. Two questions is not a study session — it is a check on whether the patterns have started to become automatic yet.
How the sample works
- Press Start practice. Two N5 grammar questions are chosen at random from the active catalogue, usually covering two different grammar points.
- Read the sentence and choose one of the four options. Furigana is on by default and you can switch it off.
- The answer is checked on our side, and you immediately see whether you were right, which option was correct, the grammar point it tested, and a short explanation.
- After both questions you get a simple 0, 1, or 2 out of 2 for this sample. Nothing is saved, and you can draw a fresh pair as many times as you like.
Why two questions is a useful check
Every question comes with the reasoning behind the correct answer, so a wrong pick teaches you something instead of just costing you a point.
These are the same authored N5 grammar questions Hibi Mondai serves inside the app — human-written and reviewed, not generated on the fly.
Nothing is stored, nothing is tracked to you, and you never hit a signup wall in the middle of a question.
